This McG directed sci-fi flick, a day of reckoning chartbuster, Terminator Salvation, has all the elements of post ordeal judgement day status. The time set at 2018, post the allegory Armageddon, the time when mankind bore the brunt of the planet’s machines which united with the sole purpose to skim out all humans. Scarlet hued, shimmering metallic robots spanned the debris skimming for any remaining human survivors, many of whom scuttled away from the line of automatic firing.
Such ravagers are these terminators who are programmed by Skynet, one need to steer clear of any debris arising from assaulting them. Skynet ‘s master plot of total scrapping out of all existing humans is evident in its preset antagonists in varied larger-than-life forms of saucer-razor mix shaped, makes the movie quite mechanized and hence, lacking sentiment and spirit.
The director McG, with his time tested formulae of kick-butt, whiz-whirling action sequences definitely keeps one enthralled. Connor, the grimy redeemer heading a group of rebel fighters is there to provide cover to the Kyle Reese, a youngster with the faintest idea of his superlative role in the future, when he will become Connor’s father, all leaves one’s mind spinning.
This hat trick entry to the existing ‘Terminator’ series is a multifarious allegory of human’s unending struggle against machines, the moral being that mechanized robots could never successfully duplicate humans due to their inability to comprehend human emotions.
Although the movie might be stalled for about two weeks, the makers are wasting no time in adding a couple of extra shots, like some Connor speeches, a different end, eye boggling shots of Moon Bloodgood in their Blue-ray releases to keep the hype of the movie going.
In comparison to the initial two Terminator tracks, Danny Elfman proffers a new musical outlook to McG’s visual extravagance. Although the Salvation is a rich movie, a befitting continuation of the previous Terminator series, the absence of the Schwarzenegger will be sorely missed by many. Sam Worthington appears as the new terminator Marcus Wright.
Salvation made by McG, will be the prequel to “The Terminator”, the milestone film directed by Cameron. Once again in Terminator 2, the duo of Cameron and Schwarzenegger made magic with profits crossing millions of dollars in U.S.
Salvation is attempting to pay reverence to these previous milestones and uniquely tries to map its own way.
