Bracing for some idiocy is just part of the norm when being at the Teen Choice Awards where the award statuette in the offing is a surf board.
The down-right odious comic timing of George Lopez about teenagers and Latinos left a foul after- taste in many a mouth. The few of the contenders lined up for Choice Twit Award like M.C. Hammer left many astonished regarding the selection of nominees. Appreciatively, victor Ellen DeGeneres aided in saving the category as she dished one of her humorous lines while accepting the surf board award.
Sean Kingston’s lack lustre performance ‘Fire Burning’ and pitiable lip syncing could not be salvaged despite top-notch pyrotechnic show and heavy unfurling of the Jamaican banners. Suited-booted little eight years old Frankie Jonas was quite a sight as he accepted the award for Breakout Male TV Star.
Miley Cyrus, the accomplished winner of six new Teen Choice awards, seems to have overstepped the line a way bit more with her micro-mini shorts, over-exposed inner wear and the stripper pole act on the ice-cream van lacking much panache and her less than desirable latest single. Maybe, concentrating on the substance rather than the props would have made a positive difference.
It was lovely to see the Teen Awards spanning its nomination across latest critically and commercially viable movies like ‘Land of the Lost’ and ‘My Sister’s Keeper’. With a host of whooping 87 awards in the offing, Britney Spears won the Ultimate Choice Award, Hugh Jackson winning the Choice Movie Actor award, Zac Efron getting the Choice Movie Comedy award and Megan Fox won the Choice Female Hottie Award.
Vanessa Hudgens got a preaching of sorts on cell phone mannerism from humorist Dane Cook in a mortifying exchange of banter at the last night’s Teen Choice Awards. Dane seemingly scoffed at Vanessa regarding her second in line bare photos that are circulating the net.
A cropping sight to watch Mike Tyson chopping off Joe Jonas’s hair on stage only to later realise that it was a gimmick of sorts.
