Stephen Gately Boyzone singer died suddenly at the age of 33 during his holiday stay in Majorca. Gately was on holiday with his long term collaborating partner Andy Cowles. His band mates were completely shocked hearing the news of his death. Spanish Police mentioned there were no signs of suspicious circumstances yet the cause of the death is not known.
Four remaining members of Boyzone mentioned Gately as friend and brother. They added saying wonderful times are shared and spend together over years and were looking forward of spending and sharing many more memorable times. They said in a statement Stephen was a beautiful person in both body and spirit. Irish band had six UK number one hits in 1990 and reformed in 2007.Singer Ronan Keating from US will join the rest with the group in Majorca. Louis Walsh manager of the band Boyzone confirmed he would not continue with X Factor appearance and was completely shocked hearing the death of Gately. Singer Sir Elton John said he and David were shocked by this tragedy. He was a man with kind and gentlest soul. Paul Gambaccini music journalist said it is sad on a personal and professional too. Boyzone spilt Gately when it was revealed that he was gay and had a boyfriend. After the split with Boyzone, Gately continued his career as a solo artist. Gately also appeared in 2007 on ITV1’s reality series dancing on Ice and was voted as Hero of 1999 at the Smash Hits Poll Winners party.
