Red Hot Red Carpet Bevies

The prolific, profligate, Cannes film festival lifted off with grand pageantry with the endless A-listers like Quentin Tarantino, Sharon Stone, Ang lee, Isabelle Hupert with jury members Robin Wright Penn, James Grey to site a few and a bunch of other heavy weights in direction and acting lining up at the red carpet. Though, the global crisis seems to make its presence felt, with a cue down on the level of glitziness and charm quotient, but there were still spiralling queues to get a glimpse of their favoured stars on the red carpet. The prime citing were the star couple Brangelina are bedecked in designer couture. Quentin Tarantino did a number with French actress Melanie Laurent at the red carpet before the start of his film screening.

The Aussie actress Cate Blanchette was vouched as among the best dressed as she arrived at the red carpet in pristine Armani gown. Another sight that caught many eyes was that of the huggable duo of gorgeous actresses, Monica Bellucci and Sophia Marceau in ravishing red gowns, who were promoting their latest flick ‘Don’t look back’. One couldn’t miss the sight of the volumptous Mariah Carey sans hubby Nick for the screening of her flick ’Precious’.

Many who were there for the screening of ‘Vengeance’ were the Brit actress Kristin Scott Thomas, The brand new face of L’Oreal, Evangeline Lilly was a sight to sore eyes as she posed for the shutterbugs. The Hong Kong top notch actress Michelle Yeoh and ex-F1 Ferrari team Director Jean Todt who also arrived to catch up on the screening of ‘Vengeance’.

Catching the attention of glow bulbs were the star couple, the Desperate Housewives star, Eva Longoria and hubby basketball player, Tony Parker for the screening of Jane Campion’s ‘Bright Star’. Director Martin Socrsese with wife Helen Morris were there to attend the flick ‘Bright Star’.The pretty Natalie Portman, juror arrived for the closing ceremony of Palm d’Or in designer attire. Another show stealer was the Spanish sweetheart, Penelope Cruz bedecked in Chopard diamonds.

Among the first Indians sited at the red carpet was Sharmila Tagore, part of the jury members was seen in traditional attire. Heading the Bolly brigade was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looking breathtaking in an off-shoulder gown with hubby Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan along with his Kites co-star Barbara Mori to promote their film. Also spotted was Slumdog Millionare star, Freida Pinto.
