Sony’s new no one comedy- horror movie Zombieland has topped the North American box office this weekend. Woody Harrelson the main lead in the movie and his biggest film opening of his career. Zombieland beat projections and crushed the two weeks dominance of children and family animated food-fest movie Cloudy with a “Chance of Meatballs” dropped the sale to second place.
Ruben Fleischer Director of Zombieland earned $25 million in its opening weekend over 3,000 theaters while Meatballs earned $15.8 million. For the third week in a row Sony, film top at the box office. Sony’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs had a drop of 33.3% drop in ticket sales. “Toy story” and “Toy Story2” 3D affect did not attract moviegoers due to its double feature and long running time-bored moviegoers to watch the film opened in the theatres and earned up to $12.5 million. “The invention of lying” which takes place in an alternative reality where everyone tells the truth opened at the theatres with number four position and earned up to $7.5 million in 1,703 theaters. “Surrogates” film by Disney had a huge drop in ticket sales with a earning of $7.34 million. Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story earned up to $4.85 million in spite of showing in 962 cinemas.
