Ardent fans celebrated Michael Jackson’s birthday with utter fervour, hailing in what would have been his 51st birthday. There have been revelries and collective dances all round the globe marking the King of Pop’s birthday.
In the city of Mexico, event organisers have exclaimed that they had smashed a colossal record of the largest number of individuals boogying to the famed tunes of Thriller, with a reported near 13,000 turning up for the occasion.
In the city of New York, Spike Lee who formerly helmed Jackson’s hit ‘They Don’t Really Care About Us’ in 1996, staged a party held in the Prospect Park, Brooklyn that he expressed as a merry, joyful and commemorative event and intends to make it into an annual event. The carnival-like celebrations drew in nearly ten thousand fans in spite of the torrential downpour, with a disk jockey spinning out Jackson’s numerous hits.
In Jackson’s infantile residence located in Gary, Indiana, there were day-long street festivities featuring local performances and candle-lit vigilance to reminisce about Jackson. Jackson fanatics dropped notes and mementos at his Neverland ranch and at his placing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
There were congregations held in other cities globally like London, Paris, Moscow, Bucharest, Barcelona and even in Delhi, India. In India, a few of the Bolly-brigade of the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif came together for a musical homage to the King Of Pop that was unveiled on Thursday.
