Brandon Camp directed Love Happens courts the popular love formula with its roller coasting twists and turns. This romantic drama unfurls with an author Burke Ryan, a seemingly burly man who is devastated with the tragic, untimely demise of his wife.
The widower played by Eckhart vents his feelings into making a novel that turns out to be a best seller. Metamorphosed into an enigmatic speaker and self help spiritual guide, Eckhart is overwhelmed with strong feelings for a woman, Eloise Chandler played by Jennifer Aniston who attends his famed seminar in Seattle. The chanced meeting of the duo sets sparks flying between the two. Eckhart is blown as the wonder of love strikes him in a phase of life when he least expected it.
As Eckhart’s ineffectual efforts to connect with his true feelings, he is compelled to face up to the reality that he still has not overcome his own grieving. For the world, he would appear as a remarkable author but within he is an emotional wreck who has not yet really come to terms with his wife’s bereavement.
The story follows the lives of two individuals that have come across their soul mate at precisely the inopportune time when both are struggling with the pain of being unlucky in love and loss. They eventually come to the realization that in order to move ahead in life, they have to set free their ghosts of the past and in the due course of which they realize that love props up in the mostly unlikely of situations.
Brandon Camp who has donned several roles in the past as screen writer and producer, has helmed the movie with great finesse as its dwells into the finer facets of love being a strong, multi-hued magical feeling that can truly propel one’s life and add depth and meaning to it.
