The Gibson Amphitheater bore witness to a host of out of the blue moments in what seemed like a crazed roller-coaster ride, on the event of the MTV Movie awards, 2009. Twilight seems to be the highlight of the show, having congregated the maximum of 5 golden popcorns in its kitty, after stiff competition with Slumdog Millionaire. Twilight star Rob Pattinson also won numerous awards for his role in the ‘Twilight’.
Bruno (aka Sacha Baron Cohen) definitely was the icing on the cake, during his presentation of the best male award. Sacha was in the garb of the iniquitous gay Austrian Bruno with wings et al and gave brief free show of his hind to many, with Eminem having the final full frontal view of them, when Bruno landed on his face. Eminem, known for his odious, venerable antiques of celeb bashing, finally had to taste the bitter pill himself, with this spectacle. Eminem and his backup staff wrestled him off, with vocal profanities being mouthed out by the self-decreed rapper, who was visibly infuriated by the unlikely turn of events, barged off the theatre thereafter.
Sacha Baron Cohen made eye balls roll once again as he rebuked celebs like Victoria Beckham, Charlie Sheen and even Madonna, not being spared, in the process of his onstage introduction of the best picture nominee.
MTV is infamous for setting up such flashes with due intent to sum up frenzy and interest, was quite evident when Mark Burnett, the executive producer was interviewed moments before the event was to commence, when he clued at Eminem being the centre piece of all the hum-drum.
Another in-your-face, supposedly humorous attempt by MTV was the feature of a video-game flick motivated by the Oscar-nominated Catholic production ‘Doubt’ where the priest in traditional attire is seen getting into a scuttle beneath a floating crucifix, didn’t go down to well with most of the audiences.
Another not so memorable sightings was that of ‘Transformers’ star, Megan Fox, seems off color in her heavily gelled hairdo and lack lustre zest during her stints onstage.
Quite a few unusual sightings were that of Eminen bonding with Jim Carrey and Jonah Hill, another unexpected amity was seen between MTV Generation Award winner, Ben Stiller, Kiefer Sutherland and Efron.
Also sighted were Densel Washington, Sandra Bullock,’ Star Trek’ star Zachary Quinto, Dax Shepherd to name a few, and last but not the least, the expected departures of Bruno and Jim Carrey who were in the same car together.
