JK Rowling British author of best sellers Harry Potter series denied US supreme civilian honor. Members of administration supposed author encouraged witchcraft. Matt Latimer Ex speechwriter for George W Bush mentioned officials of White House believed her books promoted sorcery in the series.
This claim seems to appear in the new book named Speechless: Tales of a White House Survivor. Latimer stated that narrow thinking led officials to object of giving the honors. Officials feared her stories about a teenage wizard might encourage children in US to turn away from God and drive themselves to dark side or dark evils. Due to this reason, JK Rowling name was not included amongst those receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This award salutes contribution to US national interest, world peace, or cultural events. John Steinbeck and Harper Lee are amongst the one to receive this award in past literary works. Twitter largely was saddened, aggravated, and puzzled because of Bush administration. There are reports saying Bush gave award to people who helped him to start the war in Iraq such as ex British Prime Minister Tony Blair, ex CIA director George Tenet, and the head of Coalition Provisional Authority Paul Bremer. US President Barack Obama in recent times bequeath honor on physicist Stephen Hawking.
