Actress Jeon Do-yeon received one of the France’s top art awards at a film festival in her home country. French government made Jeon Do- Yeon a knight in the Order of Arts and Letter at the Pusan International film festival. In 2007, Jeon won the best actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in The Secret Sunshine for playing a widow coping with the death of her husband and son.
French Trade minister Anne- Marie Idrac pinned the silver medal for her contributions to art at an evening reception for French filmmakers at the Pusan International film festival. Ms. Idrac called Jeon as
today’s one of the most talented actress in South Korea has acted in the most ground breaking movies. Her previous films contribution includes The Scandal, You Are My Sunshine, and My Mother the Mermaid. France’s Order of Arts and Letters was set up in 1950’s to recognize the contributions towards art and literature.
Recent receivers of award include Kylie Minogue, Jude Law, George Clooney and children’s illustrator Quentin Blake. Highest order of commander has been given to Dennis Hopper, Bob Dylan and Clint Eastwood. Indian director Yash Chopra was honored as filmmaker of the year. Chopra founded one of India’s top studios. Yash Raj Films has enjoyed close working relationships with few Bollywood star including Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
