After a string of successful animated television series, Mike Judge is back helming ‘Extract’ a comical film that lobs light on the life of Joel (Jason Bateman), the owner of a flavour-extract company whose life gets jinxed as a trifling, muddling episode snowballs to a host of other major disarrays.
Compounding matters further, he encounters a pretty young thing, Mila (Kunis) who tries to entice him into landing her job in his company, hoping to getting hurt at the workplace, so she can sue him for a plump settlement much similar to the manner in which Clifton Collins Jr., a worker who got injured in that factory.
Ben Affleck plays the role of Joel’s best pal who works at a bar, happens to once accidently inject Joel with a horse tranquilizer. Ben cooks up a ridiculous plan with the already zonked Joel to hire a gigolo to seduce his wife so Joel can have a guiltless hook-up with Mila. However, when Joel comes to his senses, it is too late for him to set things right as the dim-wit gigolo had already done his job. This further aggravates the muddle in his already tumultuous relationship with his always cold-shouldered wife played by Kristen Wig.
Affleck truly steals the show with his broad comical timing that blends perfectly with Bateman’s clever approach. The movie has pot loads of nut-cracking reaction shots bound to extract huge rib-tickles with fine acting from the likes of Ben Affleck and Jason Bateman.
