Eminem has been in the news in the past few years, associated more for his tumultuous past with his association with drugs and an unsuccessful re-marriage after his in-and-out stay at the rehab that lasted less than 100 days. Wife Kim admitted to him getting hooked on drugs once again, citing it as one of the major causes of their split. Eminem openly admitted to going on a binge with sleep medications, anti-depressants and other substance abuse. The problem seemed to aggravate with the unnatural and untimely death of his close pal, rapper Proof, which made Eminem go in his shell and the vicious cycle of self –abhor and associated overdoses of substance abuse.
Eminem, the rapper par excellence who shot to fame with the score, real Slim Shady, is cited to give top notch performance in this year’s MTV Movie Awards function which will be held on the 31st May. He would be performing numbers from his latest album ‘Relapse’. The current score ‘We made you’ is doing the rounds on MTV for more than a week now. Eminem has been at the pivotal spot on the Australian singles chart since mid-May.
Eminem with his trademark histrionics of tartly and more so frequent unequivocal rhymes , has lived to his infamous reputation in his current single, with bountiful sequences of pot shots at celebrities and briny verses to add insult to injury. His unpleasant scenes in which he raps about humping with Sarah Palin, leaves a bitter after taste. Eminem is seen shooting out at famous celebs like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears to site a few. The video has been banned in the US due to its explicit content. Although, when questioned about this trait he is quick to covertly and sarcastically say that most of them were not deliberate. He is even seen taking verbal pot shots at Mariah Carey and her hubby in the video.
Many who have heard the lyrics of his latest release prefer his old rap tunes and many are of the view point that he has got stuck into drudgery of repetitiveness and quite a few seem to not like the weird accent he has put up in major part of the score. After having claimed top notch in UK and seems all set to seek peak position in the Billboard charts too with ‘Relapse’. His premier release post the 2004 record, ‘retirement’, which claimed critical sales. Despite some unruly reviews, ‘Relapse’ is still selling like hot cakes with the number touching more than seven lakh copies in just the first week.
Eminem is known to write lyrics in his scores about women he couldn’t have or those who broke his heart. The rapper recently been seen with weird looking mask as he spanned NYC or the histrionic swine flu mask he sported in France leaves one wondering where the kid’s going from here next.
