David Letterman Makes An Apology Through Show

Published on: 6th October, 2009

US chat show host David Letterman apologized to his wife on-air after discussing his sexual relationships with female staffers. Letterman vowed to mend the relationship with his wife Regina Lasko. David Letterman has mined private events in his life for very public jokes on his show.

lettermanLetterman admitted saying she had been horribly hurt by this behavior and if you hurt a person and it’s our own responsibility to fix it. The apology began self-criticizing 15 minutes after the show, which airs at 11.30 pm as he strode on stage and began his opening monologue. Audience burst into laughter. He had sex with unnamed member of his staff and testified those connections before a New York grand jury as part of a so-called extortion endeavor. Later CBS producer threatened to go to public with awkward information of Letterman’s private life. He told a story about being blackmailed however; he began and utters his apology in a humble way. He added saying all this happened before the marriage.  Larry Lefkowitz who attended the show found Letterman apology sincere. An editor of Time magazine Richard Zoglin was not afraid of letting out and playing the scandal in public. Actor Steve Martin said this proves that Letterman was a human being has we were not sure before.

What is deifnitely not funny here is Mr. Letterman’s irresponsible behavior. Is anybody talking about throwing this guy out? Politicians lose their job and credibility – we have all seen that. MR. Clinton almost got impeached. The network is sending wrong signals by keeping Mr. Letterman on the show. I mean what IS THIS – you can have illegal relationship with your colleague and still joke about it at your job? Try doing that at your job and pretty soon you will be at the soup lines. Please all due respect, Mr. Letterman should resign.

  2. Dear Mr Letterman

I read about your story , and I was driven to write this letter to you. I’m a man like u are – with needs and weakness . But I believe we have to draw the very thick line between being a pig that loves to rootle in its own shit and a cat that hates the mere sight of it’s.

When I heard your story ,I thought you were divorced. To have discovered that a poor woman was at the end of the receiving line was unimagined. To have cheated on your wife , not once but severally and never even felt guilty enough to confess to her , but waited until u were threatened with the possibility of a blackmail tells of how so very loving you are .Worse still, to come on air and joke about it and switch on those laughing machines was totally intelligent .I couldn’t help but wonder if you were alright upstairs

Family apart , It is clear that as old as he is , Mr Letterman, isn’t bothered by the decaying moral situation of the American society .(I wonder if he has kids and grandkids ).Neither does he have any regard for the workplace ethic or for his co-workers .What a shame!! Again I ask myself “Is he aging wisely enough to realize that such acts by everyday public figure like him increases society’s tolerance to such immorality by creating the impression that it is ok ? It is men like u that make others look like the cheats that women believe we all are. Oh I know everything is alright now..Afterall you apologized for this hideous act !!

Mr Letterman ,“Teach the young generation something better – or get out of the TV screen. “

Americans in various NGO are fighting for women’s rights and freedom form abuse all over the world. I think u should start fighting from home and the work place. My heart goes out to your wife .Besides having a heart of gold I believe she deserves the award for the most humiliated woman in history .

Ps Help restore morals back to America—It’s partly the reason American is in a great recession

A wise man once said “you without sin cast the first stone” and we all walked away. I feel this about all people, not just my favorite people. Dave loves his audience, but clearly loves his family more and they should be proud of the way he is confronting his accuser. I hope the law protects his privacy and frankly Dave, it really is none of our business. I am grateful for your gift of humor. It is worth every cent you are paid. That is my only interest in you.

I AM APPALLED. Even though I have seen pictures of David’s younger days, and he wasn’t that bad looking, I just cannot comprehend WHO in her right mind was going to have sex with David so I cannot even begin to imagine this guy actually having sex, OMG I am having Nightmares!

David Letterman is a celebrity and we can’t expect him to date like a normal person. Most celebrities can’t go out in public without the paparazzi chasing them, so the only people they feel comfortable around and ultimatley end up in relationships with are the people they work with. If they can’t live so called “normal” lives, then we can’t expect them to live up to “normal” standards.
