FIFA World Cup 2010 sports central body has announced a major concert highlighting music, sport of South Africa held at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg. It is a three-hour show in collaborations with international stars and top African artists and appearances of football legends. This event is happening for the first time and will take place a day before the opening ceremony and beginning of first game.
Kevin Wall who produced staging show, Live 8 and Live Earth will broadcast the concert around the world; production team behind the concert and tickets details is yet to be announced in January. Artists performing at the celebration concert will be announced close to the show date. Wall said international artists would perform along with that many major African artists and culture would be stressed on to perform. There are rumors that Spice Girls would reunite for the last time through this concert. They are trying to stress on football, culture, color, and music of Africa. Wall believes the show could reach bigger TV audience with the promise of something special. Wall added saying it is believed to be one of the greatest and biggest show ever happened and produced in Africa. 2010 tournament is the first World Cup held in Africa.
Concert will raise money for the world cup’s official charity of 20 centers for 2010. Organisers aim to build twenty Football centers for public health, education, and football across Africa.
