Cashing on the full-throttle success and fame of ‘Star Trek’, Paramount Vantage is back to recoup its stance with the Chris Pine starrer ‘Carriers’ that charts the course of quartet pals who are haplessly engulfed in a virulent pandemic situation as they attempt to escape its lethal clutches.
The world been perilously transformed into a hot bed for the deadly plague virus that has taken endemic proportions with few locations and individuals who remain unscathed by this incurable virus.
Among those struggling to survive are the foursome Danny (Lou Taylor Pucci) along with his girl Bobby (Piper Perabo), his brother Brian (Chris Pine) and his school buddy Kate (Emily Vancamp) who are pacing across the South West U.S. trying to skim around a safe haven while circumventing those who are infected by it.
As the quartet navigates across the South West America that is slowly but surely becoming a living hell, they attempt to reach the Utopian Beach in the Gulf of Mexico believed to be relatively safe. The span of four days than ensue tests their morality to the hilt as they are bombarded with the bitter reality that the darkest enemy is within them rather than the combatant virus.
As unexpected scenarios crop up, comrades taking ill, the group is faced with trying times on how to gain sanity of the situation.
‘Carriers’, a rousing, horror movie is a subtle take on a less-desirable facet of human nature that has a tendency to dodge humane values and courage in the face of tribulations.
