Among the many luminaries that attended the 66th Venice Film Festival were Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes and George Clooney. With 24 movies vying for the festival’s esteemed Golden Lion accolade, there seems to be stiff competition with the one to be chosen winner being decided by a panel of judges headed by Taiwan-based director Ang Lee.
Noted on the red carpet were Paris Hilton and Mel B strutting down their designer stuff the former night for the premiere of the film ‘The Bad Lieutenant’. The Desert Flower movie party had none of its stars in attendance though the expensive champagne flowed freely.
Michael Moore’s foremost press screening of his film ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’ was jam-packed with the media clamouring to know what the director was up to since his last release ‘Sicko’ many years back.
Also seen earlier were director Werner Herzog along with the star cast of Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes that braced the global media for the movie ‘The Bad Lieutenant’.
With a host of innumerable premieres happening concurrently, also spotted on the red carpet were talented duo Viggo Mortenson alongside his youngster Australian co-actor Kodi Smit-Mcphee, Harvey Weinstein from the movie ‘The Road’ whose screening was held here. However, the other movie cast of ‘The Road’ like Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron and Omar were notably absent from the film festival.
