Taylor Swift won the ‘Album of the Year’ Award for ‘Fearless’ thus adding yet another Gold Trophy to her ever-expanding award collection. Swift collected her golden Gramaphone from John Legend and Carlos Santana after ably beating top challengers like Beyonce Knowles, Lady GaGa and Black Eyed Peas. This victory makes it her fourth win placing her after Beyonce in the winner listing who has won six.
Singing a new song from the forthcoming film ‘Valentine’s Day’, Taylor Swift performed ‘Today Was a Fairytale’, later on introducing Stevie Nicks and sang a duet with him. Bon Jovi gave a performance ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’ prior to inviting upon Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland for a memorable duet.
Black Eyed Peas received the award for the Best Pop Vocal Album. Zac Brown Band won the best new artist award and Kings of Leon won ‘record of the year’ award. A.R. Rehman received two grammys for Best Song and Best Soundtrack from singer and actor Tia Carrere.
Pink acrobatically performed ‘Glitter in the Air’ suspended mid-air while she sung making it appear alike a Cirque de Soliel show.
Black Eyed Peas performed ‘I Gotta Feeling’ on a stage full of prancing tomatoes and robotic creatures.
Lady GaGa gave another one of her over-the-top performances are she sung ‘Poker Face’ and being flung into a pail of fire prior to surfacing alongside singing with similarly soiled and perplexed Elton John.
A multi-star, 3-D homage was paid to Michael Jackson with performances by Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Smokey Robinson and Carrier Underwood.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Michael Jackson, the trophy being accepted by his kids, Prince and Paris.
Prior to the awards function concluding, Eminen, Drake, Lil Wayne and Travis Baker belted out their spectacular double act performance.
